La Bernerie-En-Retz
La Bernerie-en-Retz is the Côte de Jade at its most authentic: welcoming, family-friendly and wonderfully unpretentious.
Here, children run barefoot along the beach, cafés come alive in the evening and the Friday market fills the village with the smell of fresh bread, strawberries and local produce.
From Le Chant des Embruns, almost everything is within walking distance : the beach, shops, restaurants, the market and even the train station. And once you're back home, the village gives way to the peace and quiet of your own little seaside retreat.

Follow the coast along the Yvonne Wilson promenade, explore the Roches Dorées area or head further inland towards the Bourgneuf marshes.
It's a wonderful part of the coast for slowing down, getting some fresh air and discovering the local landscapes on foot or by bike.
For those who like to stay active, the local tennis club is just 200 metres away, with two outdoor courts. The nautical club, around 900 metres from the house, offers opportunities to enjoy the sea in a different way.
Further afield, you'll also find horse-riding centres, adventure parks, laser tag and other activities for all ages, available throughout the year.
La Bernerie-en-Retz is a lively little village throughout the year.
The traditional market takes place under the covered market hall every Friday morning, with an additional Tuesday morning market during the summer season. On Wednesday evenings in summer, local craft markets bring the village to life, while Friday night markets take over on summer evenings.
And there's more than just the beach: the local cinema has a lively programme throughout the year, making it easy to enjoy a film even when the weather isn't quite beach-perfect.
